Where the wudu areas are
The Saudi Press Agency lists ablution areas in the eastern courtyard, the western courtyard, the Safa and King Abdulaziz Endowment towers, and at several points along the Masa'a (Al Arqam, Al Qashashiyah and Al Marwah). Another guide adds large ablution facilities at basement level and near the major gates.
Where the toilets are
Modern restrooms are spread across several areas, especially in the second expansion and on the roof, with escalators and elevators to reach them. There are separate restrooms for people arriving by bus. Accessible washrooms are available for pilgrims with disabilities.
Finding the nearest one
QR codes placed around the mosque help you find the nearest restroom, and the Nusuk app is reported to show facility locations and crowd levels. Gate by gate maps change with construction and expansion, so we do not list gate numbers here. Follow the signs and the app on the day.
Zamzam, wheelchairs and lost property
Zamzam coolers are placed throughout the mosque and courtyards, with a dedicated drinking area in the basement. Free wheelchair services are reported near the King Abdul Aziz gate, Gate 74 and the Ajyad gate. A lost and found office operates near the main gates.
Quieter times
Facilities are reported to be least crowded between Fajr and Dhuhr and late at night after Isha, and most crowded on Friday afternoons and around Maghrib, in Hajj season and in the last ten days of Ramadan.
Practical tips
Make wudu at your hotel before you leave if you can, go to the toilet before the prayer rush, and note the gate and level where you leave your shoes. Keep your group together and agree a meeting point.
