Umrah scams and how to stay safe
Pilgrims are targeted by fake offers. Use only official channels and report anything suspicious.

Fake agents and visas
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah warns that fraudulent agencies advertise fake Hajj packages and visas. The Hajj visa is the only approved visa for Hajj. Arab News reports fines of up to SR 20,000, deportation for expatriates and a 10 year entry ban for entering Hajj or the holy sites without a permit.
Use official channels
Hajj permits are issued only through the Nusuk app or the Permits Platform (Tasreeh). Be careful of any agency that promises a visa or an unusually cheap luxury package.
Payments and links
Do not send money to unknown sources, check payment links, and never share card details. Use banks or licensed exchangers and keep receipts. See money tips.
Haircuts and services
The ministry advises using designated barbershops with licensed barbers and sterilised tools. See Haram services.
Where to report
330330 for fraud SMS with a Saudi SIM. 911 for Hajj rule violations in Makkah and Madinah, 999 elsewhere, and 1966 for pilgrim complaints. See emergency numbers.
