8th Dhul Hijjah: Tarwiyah
Enter ihram with the intention for Hajj and go to Mina. Pray Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and Fajr there, shortening the four rakat prayers without combining them.
9th: Day of Arafat
After sunrise, go to Arafat. Pray Dhuhr and Asr together, shortened, and spend the afternoon in dua until sunset. Standing at Arafat is the heart of Hajj.
Night of the 9th: Muzdalifah
After sunset, move to Muzdalifah. Pray Maghrib and Isha together, rest, pray Fajr and make dua. Collect small pebbles for the Jamarat.
10th: Eid day
- Throw seven pebbles at Jamrat al Aqabah.
- Offer the sacrifice, usually arranged by your group or through an authorised service.
- Shave or trim your hair.
- Perform Tawaf al Ifadah and Sai in Makkah. This can also be done on the following days.
11th and 12th: Days of Tashreeq
Stay in Mina. After midday, throw seven pebbles at each of the three Jamarat in order: small, middle, large. Those who leave early may go on the 12th before sunset.
13th: Optional third day
Those who stay throw the Jamarat once more.
Before you leave Makkah
Perform the Farewell Tawaf.
